Employment Litigation :

Whether negotiating agreements for corporate executives or representing hourly workers in complex class actions, employment law is an area I truly enjoy.

Case Studies

  • In a high-profile class action as counsel for approximately 5,000 women, Geoff brought claims against an international technology company alleging that the female mid-level managers were paid, classified and promoted unequally to men. The case resulted in a class wide national settlement, approved by the federal judge overseeing the case, providing for equity pay adjustments and back payments for the class members, as well as significant programmatic changes benefiting women at the company.

  • Geoff has represented well over 100 executives of Fortune 100 and other public and private companies in the successful retrieval of their stock options, severance and other compensation following contested terminations, forced resignations and good reason resignations.

  • Geoff handled claims on behalf of several female employees of a national hair care and cosmetic manufacturer, alleging that a regional manager had sexually harassed and physically assaulted numerous women. The case resulted in a confidential settlement, and resulted in significant policy changes at the company.

  • Geoff represented a former highly successful NCAA basketball coach in an age discrimination claim. After a trial and verdict, the parties agreed to a confidential settlement.

  • An Austin woman received a confidential settlement following a civil trial in which she alleged a series of sexual assaults by two corporate executives. Geoff negotiated the terms of settlement against the executives prior to trial against their employer. At the trial, the jury confirmed that the executives committed rape despite the grand jury’s refusal to indict the two executives on this criminal charge.

  • Geoff represented two Austin executives who were dismissed from their jobs after they became pregnant. Shortly before trial, the parties agreed to a confidential settlement.

  • Geoff prevailed in an arbitration brought by the former chief financial officer of a major construction company, who was terminated after alleging financial improprieties. The chief financial officer took nothing in her claims.
